Mobile · May to October for unheated spaces

Mobile installation

We can come to you, if your space can hold film. Film is laid wet, in still air, under good light. A clean garage does it. A parking lot doesn’t.

Run the checklist. Eight ticks and mobile is worth booking. Anything short, bring the vehicle to 426 Memorial Dr NE and we do it in the bay, at the same price with no travel to pay.

Does your space pass?

Tap a line to see why it matters, then tick what’s true for your space. Nothing is sent until you choose to.

  1. An enclosed spaceA garage or shop with a door that closes. Not a public parkade, not outside, not under a tarp.

Film goes on wet and open. Anything in the air lands on the panel and stays under the film.

  2. Temperature we can work inHeated, or a mild day between May and October.

Cold slows the adhesive and the slip solution. In a space without regulated heat we may cancel without notice when the weather won’t allow film to work.

  3. Room around the vehicleEvery door opens fully and we can walk all the way around.

We stretch, squeegee and trim from every side of a panel.

  4. Good lightBright overhead light. We bring work lights, and more is better.

Specks, fibres and lift lines show under strong light, which is when we want to see them.

  5. Clean, still airSwept, low dust, no wind or drafts. Doors stay closed while we work.

Dust shows as specks under film; wind blows grit onto the wet panel; a draft dries the slip solution unevenly.

  6. A floor that can get wetWe spray a slip solution on every panel. The floor will be wet.

That’s how film is positioned. Cardboard or a drip tray helps if the floor matters to you.

  7. Washed the day ofThe vehicle is washed the same day, before we arrive.

Calgary’s Stormwater Bylaw lets only plain water reach a storm drain, so no soap wash on a driveway or street. Without a pressure washer and a floor drain, we can only wipe down the panels we film.

  8. Power within reachA wall outlet we can plug into.

Heat guns and work lights. Water is helpful but not required.

Recording

We record installations for our content. Your call.

Either answer is fine. It never changes the price or the work.

How a mobile booking works

Travel
The round trip from the shop, at $90 an hour: each way rounded up to the next 15 minutes, at least 30 minutes round trip. It’s part of your deposit, shown as its own line, and never charged twice. A second trip is charged again.
Deposit
Every mobile booking takes a deposit; a shop job under $500 before GST doesn’t. It’s the film we cut for your vehicle at twice its cost, plus plotting time at $90 an hour (30 minutes below full-front coverage, an hour for a full front, two hours for a whole car), plus travel for mobile. It’s credited in full to your install; GST applies to the deposit when it’s taken and to the balance when it’s paid.
If the space doesn’t work when we arrive
Three ways: book a second trip (travel charged again); cancel, and the film we cut for you is yours to take; or reschedule at the shop, where the travel already made stays charged.
Season and weather
In a space without regulated heat, mobile work runs May to October, depending on availability, and we may cancel without notice when the weather won’t allow film to work. A heated garage isn’t tied to the season; availability still applies.
Recording
We record installations for our content when you say yes. Say no and we don’t; it changes nothing else.
Where we won’t install
Public parkades, outdoors, or under a tarp. Film laid there comes out with dust in it, and we won’t put our name on that.

Why we’re picky about the space

Paint protection film is clear. Whatever gets between it and the paint stays there until that panel is redone: a speck of dust, a fibre, a grain of sand carried in on the wind. In the shop the air is controlled, the floor drains, the light is where we want it and the vehicle is washed before it rolls in. Mobile can match that in a good garage. It can’t in a parkade or a driveway, so we don’t try.
